When you are sharing your calendar with other people you need to set working hours in Outlook as well to them your busy hours. Otherwise, people who are planning to make an appointment or arrange a meeting schedule with you can be in trouble. Unfortunately, Microsoft Outlook does not support irregular working hours. Still, you can set up your country holidays and weekly holidays.
In this article, I will share with you how to set your working hours in the Outlook calendar.
Setting up your working hours in Outlook?
Go to the Outlook options. If you do not find the Options, I will guide you.
No worries. Go to the File tab, and click on the Options tab you will find Outlook Options.
Select the Calendar tab from the left side of the window. In the calendar Outlook options at the top, you will find where you will set working hours. It looks like the below screenshot. It is yellow marked where you need to change to set the working hours in the calendar.
- Set your official start time.
- Set your Office end time.
- Click on the checkbox for which days you are working.
- Select the first day of the week.
- Select the first day of the year.
- Click OK to complete the work.
Explanation of setting work Hours
Start time: It is the daily work start time, by default it is set to 8:00 AM but you can change it as you like.
End time: Set the time when you usually finish your work daily. Outlook set time is 5:00 PM, you can change it if you are working more than that.
Work Week: Usually it is set from Monday to Friday, but if your country is not like that you can set it as per your requirement. Even if you work on holidays also, you have the flexibility to do that.
First day of the week: If your week starts from Sunday, you set it like that, in some countries, the week starts from Saturday. You have the option to set it by that one.
First day of the year: Many countries follow a different calendar than English. They have their local calendar. Also like financial calendar starts from 1st July. You have the flexibility to start your calendar in July.
Benefits of Setting up your working hours in Outlook
There are basically two benefits to setting up working hours in the Microsoft Outlook calendar.
- Other people can see your work hours, they know when you are in the office.
- People who are arranging meetings with you know the time when you are at the office.
This can happen if you share your calendar with other people.
